Its business and political reporting is widely respected across the spectrum and is frequently cited by outlets on the left. Its editorial page is one of the most influential conservative opinion platforms in the country. The two operate under a formal separation and have publicly contradicted each other more than once.
This is worth understanding before you read any media chart, because it is the clearest case of a real problem with single-point ratings. Any one label for the Journal is wrong about half of it. Readers who want the reporting and not the argument can simply avoid the opinion pages, which are clearly marked.
